The Gump's Department Store in San Francisco, California put on a auction in September, 2008 of handmade, one-of-a-kind lampshades by artists, designers and celebrities in the Bay Area. The auction entitled, Made in the Shade, benefited the California College of the Arts scholarship fund and many artists, students and professors alike, from the school were invited to participate.
